DeployCloud vs CapRover

CapRover is one of the longest-running self-hosted PaaS projects: Docker Swarm underneath, an nginx load balancer, a CLI and a web UI, and a large one-click app store — all of which you install, run and keep patched on a server you provision and operate yourself. DeployCloud covers similar ground as a fully managed platform: connect a Git repo, push, and we build and run your app on our cloud, with HTTPS, scaling, backups and monitoring handled for you. Here is how they compare.

CapRover's strengths

CapRover is mature and battle-tested. Its one-click app marketplace is a genuine highlight — you can stand up dozens of ready-made services (databases, tools, apps) in a couple of clicks. It has been around for years and has a large community. If you actively want to run and tune your own infrastructure, it gives you a lot of hands-on control.

Where DeployCloud differs

  • Fully managed, nothing to run. There is no server to provision, no OS or Docker to patch, and no TLS or reverse proxy to wire up. Connect a Git repo, push a branch, and DeployCloud builds with Nixpacks or your Dockerfile, runs the release process, and shifts traffic once health checks pass. A Procfile declares web, worker and release.
  • Preview environments. Every branch can deploy to its own URL with a GitHub commit status and PR comment — built in and hosted for you, not something you stand up and maintain.
  • Day-2 operations run for you. Time-series metrics with threshold alerts, log drains, scheduled Postgres backups with one-click restore, and horizontal + CPU autoscaling are operated on our side — no monitoring stack or cron scripts for you to babysit.
  • No 3am pages. DeployCloud keeps HTTPS, scaling, backups and health-checked deploys running as a managed service. CapRover asks you to keep the Swarm cluster, nginx and host OS healthy yourself.

Batteries DeployCloud includes

  • Time-series CPU & memory metrics, with threshold alerts to your webhook on breach and recovery — collected and stored on our side
  • Scheduled Postgres backups with retention and rotation — plus one-click restore of any dump, run for you
  • GitHub preview feedback: a commit status and a PR comment with the preview URL, and optional password-protected previews

Honest take: if you want to run your own infrastructure and a one-click marketplace of ready-made services, CapRover gives you that control. If you like the git-push simplicity but would rather not be the sysadmin — no server to provision, no OS or Docker to patch, no 3am pages — DeployCloud gives you the same workflow fully managed, with HTTPS, previews, backups and monitoring run for you.

Frequently asked questions

Is CapRover or DeployCloud better for hosting my own app?

Both deploy your app straight from Git. DeployCloud is a fully managed platform — push a branch and we build, run and scale it using a Procfile, with preview environments and built-in metrics and backups, and nothing for you to operate. CapRover is the fit if you want to run your own server and also get a marketplace of one-click ready-made services.

Does DeployCloud require Docker Swarm like CapRover?

No — and you never touch Swarm at all. DeployCloud runs and scales your app on our managed cloud, so there is no cluster for you to set up, patch or maintain. CapRover is Swarm-based from the start and you operate the cluster yourself.

Do both support zero-downtime deploys?

Yes. DeployCloud runs health-checked rolling releases behind managed HTTPS and routing (Traefik), all operated for you; CapRover rolls Swarm services behind an nginx layer that you configure and keep running.
